There is a version of this that happens to a lot of small businesses. You bought a domain, you got offered a website builder with it, you started building on a Sunday, and the site is still four pages and a placeholder headline. The domain renews every year regardless.
Your domain does not have to move
This is the part people get wrong, so it is worth putting first. A domain and a website are two different things. Where you bought the name has nothing to do with where the site lives.
So you can leave your domain exactly where it is, in your own GoDaddy account, in your own name, renewing the way it always has. We just point it at the site we build. Nothing transfers, nothing is at risk, and you keep the login you already have.
If you would rather move it, you can do that too. Either way the domain is yours and stays yours. Any company that makes leaving them complicated is telling you something, and we would rather make it a non event.
How switching actually works
Nothing breaks and there is no day where your customers land on nothing. That is the whole design of it.
- Send us your current site. Just the link. We read it, keep what is working, and rewrite what is not.
- We build the new one and send you a live link. Your real site, not a mockup. Look at it on your phone.
- Only if you like it, we point the domain. One setting in the account you already have. The old site stays up until the moment the new one takes over.
- Cancel the old builder after, not before. There is no gap, and if you change your mind before the switch there is nothing to undo.
Who this is not for
If you enjoy building websites and you will genuinely keep yours current, keep your builder. It is cheaper than us and you will have a good time.
If you want something genuinely custom, a distinctive design nobody else has, an unusual booking flow, a members area, hire a designer. That is real work and it is worth real money.
